Writer Billy Briggs and I travelled to the Qandil mountains, an area of
exceptional beauty and a sanctuary for PJAK in the eastern part of Kurdistan
on the border with Iran to meet rebel fighters. PJAK claims to fight for
the rights of Kurdish people in Iran, but Iran regards it as a terrorist
group. Many women see joining PJAK as an escape from the male driven
society, male values and male mentality.
